Dave started playing at a very early age, his first instrument was a Blue and White Hawaiian Ukulele at the age of three, moving on to a nondescript Spanish guitar with three strings at six. Realising at nine that a guitar needed six strings Burdon’s was the next port of call and a Chinese lump of wood was purchased, but it served it’s purpose and Dave joined a band in 1967. Joining Firm Landing along with Sammy Puddlegum, Woody and Dylan. The band metamorphosed into “The Great British Invention”, probably the Best Harmony Rock outfit to come out of the north east of England since “Lindisfarne”.
In the 80’s Dave moved into production and management giving outfits like The Flaming Mussolinis a solid practical base to work from.
After leaving the business for a number of years due to ill health, Dave has returned on bass, second guitar and vocals with Steel River. A mellower, more mature and sophisticated player with a lot to give in his own under stated inimitable way.
